Washington, D.C. – December 7, 2011 – Members of Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. (FHR) enjoyed a night out in the nation’s Capital for the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Virginia Regional Director Larry Ferguson obtained four tickets to the holiday spectacular, enabling two ICRT Program staff and two persons served to attend the event at the National Mall on December 1.

“The ceremony is a time-honored holiday tradition, which includes the illumination of the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse just south of the White House,” stated ceremonial representatives. “Nationally-acclaimed entertainers and the United States Air Force Band add to the celebratory evening; the President brings a message of peace to the nation and the world. The White House serves as the backdrop in what becomes known as the ‘Christmas Pathway of Peace,’ with the National Christmas Tree and 56 smaller trees serving as the focal points of the night.”

The 56 smaller trees surrounding the National Christmas Tree represent each of the 50 states, five U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. FHR members enjoyed performances by Airmen of Note, Rodney Atkins, Marsha Ambrosius, Big Time Rush, Ellie Goulding, One Republic, Will.I.Am. from The Black Eyed Peas, and Kermit the Frog.Carson Daly hosted the event and President Barack Obama spoke at the National Mall on this same evening as well.

“We were excited to be able to be a part of history by attending the 2011 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. It’s not very often that you get to attend the same event as the President of the United States!” said ICRT Director Julie Branch.FHR is extremely grateful for this opportunity that was enjoyed by all.
