Community Residential

Supported Housing that provides 24-hour supervision. The programs are designed for clients who are experiencing a level of distress that requires 24-hour supervision but poses no significant danger that warrants inpatient hospitalization. They may be used in conjunction with other levels of care and must be supervised through a designated mental health treatment provider. Residential services are used as an alternative to returning home, or to other previous environments that may be deleterious to the client’s treatment plan requirements. These programs fall into three categories: 

High Risk:
  • 24-hour awake staffing
  • On-call backup staff 
  • Psychiatric services on call 24 hours 
  • 24-hour crisis plan in place 
Moderate Risk: 
  • Secure staffing, but not necessarily awake overnight 
  • Psychiatric services made available one time per month 
  • 24-hour crisis plan in place 
Low Risk: 
  • Daytime support staff in place 
  • 24-hour staff available on call 
  • Psychiatric services made available one time per month 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Need for 24-hour supervision in an informal, yet structured setting 
  • Need for gradual re-entry into the community 
  • Axis 1 DSM-IV diagnosis 
  • Continued supervision is needed for activities of daily living/social skills, medication compliance, aftercare follow-up supervision 
  • Discharge to the home is not possible because a therapeutic environment is not in place

  • Medical 
  • Psychiatry 
  • Vocational/Employment 
  • Supportive Counseling 
  • Guidance and Support in Daily Living Skills, Leisure/Social Skills, Communication Skills
  • Chemical Dependency Education and Counseling
