Ready for the Next 35 Years

This year Fellowship Health Resources (FHR) is celebrating its 35th anniversary as a provider of mental health and substance abuse services for adults with a primary diagnosis of mental illness or substance abuse.  It is rather uncommon these days to have an in-house historian who has been with an organization from the very first day; however, in my case, it’s true.  I began working for the Fellowship officially on January 16, 1975, as one of two full-time mental health counselors at Westwick House in West Warwick, RI. In 1984, I became the President and CEO of the Fellowship, a position that I hold today. There have been many milestones in the Fellowship’s development over the past 35 years.  It is our intent to bring our organization’s rich history to life by focusing on one of these milestones each month.  We will accomplish this by filming a series of interviews with key constituents, by discussing why we made certain decisions, and by sharing stories that are sure to be of interest to anyone wanting to know more about the Fellowship or the development of nonprofit organizations. I invite you to take this journey with us and I welcome your comments.  It has truly been my privilege to work in this field, and to collaborate with so many outstanding professionals both within and outside of the Fellowship organization.  Please visit our new dynamic and interactive website often as we revisit the last 35 years and get ready for the next 35.
