Why Donate to FHR NC?

You might look at our Donate Now! button and wonder, 'Why?'  While we do bill for the services we provide, our programs in North Carolina are constantly seeking to go above and beyond the basic requirements with our consumers.  With the recent cuts to our funding sources, it has been difficult to do this, but your donation can help.  Some of the things on our Wish List include:

Cary Clubhouse (PSR)

• Digital Camcorders:  providing our consumers with the opportunity to express themselves visually, learn about current technology, and connect with others.
• Adaptive Gardening Equipment:  we have a very active horticulture program, but our consumers with physical disabilities have difficulty participating.  Raised planting beds and trellises along with other equipment would make these activities more accessible to them

Building Foundations (PSR)

• Digital Cameras:  providing our consumers with the opportunity to express themselves visually, develop healthy leisure outlets they can use while at home and help them connect with others.
• Laminator and Refill Sheets:  allows us to preserve projects our consumers have put time, effort, and love into for years to come.
• Portable Stove:  to help our consumers become more comfortable cooking, so they are capable and skilled at making healthy meals at home, improving their overall well-being.

Outpatient Services

• Art and Music Supplies:  The outpatient therapy program is in the process of setting up a group for women who have experienced traumatic events that will utilize creative expressive interventions.  We hope to use various artistic mediums, including:  clay, paints, and music, to facilitate the therapeutic process.
