Fellowship Health Resources Receives EDTAP Funding
Fellowship Health Resources North Carolina (FHR NC) applied for and received EDTAP funding through Wake County Services. EDTAP (Elderly and Disabled Transportation Assistance Program), is a federally-funded program that focuses on improving transportation for the elderly and disabled, especially those in rural areas that have limited access to public transportation systems. Each year, Wake County Human Services applies for EDTAP funding from the federal government. The funds are then distributed to community agencies such as FHR NC with the purpose of helping citizens of Wake County access transportation to improve their quality of life.
2009 was the first year that Fellowship applied for EDTAP funding through Wake County Human Services. We are excited and grateful to have received this funding source to assist our consumers. Currently we are using the funds provided to buy bus tickets for consumers with limited resources, who may find it difficult to afford public transportation. With this help they are not only able to be actively engaged in treatment, they are also able to access community resources, job opportunities, and other services located on the bus routes.
