Taunton, MA – January 13, 2012 – Fairwinds Clubhouse and Plymouth Bay House of Fellowship Health Resources, Inc. (FHR) will participate in a Clubhouse Symposium with all of the clubhouses in Southeastern Massachusetts at the Ricky Silvia Gymnasium, 60 Hodges Avenue, on January 20, from 9 a.m. to noon. Anyone interested in gaining information about the components of a clubhouse recovery model, clubhouse partnerships, or evidence-based rehabilitation services is welcome to attend.
"Clubhouses in Southeastern Massachusetts represented at this Symposium will have the opportunity to get the word out to a broader audience about what clubhouses are and what they do for members,” said Director of Plymouth Bay House Mike Cote. “Members from all over the region will present and share how their clubhouses have helped in their personal rehabilitation and how they have provided a sense of community.”
Registration for the Symposium will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Symposium organizers have arranged for each Clubhouse to have a table to provide information about their organization and the services that they provide. Fairwinds Clubhouse Director Tom Couhig said that over 30 Fairwinds members are planning on attending this event. Staff and clubhouse members will lead discussion panels and conduct several presentations.
“Fairwinds staff member Deborah McKie and I will share the story of one of our members, Pam,” says Couhig. “Her story is miraculous; she was living on the streets for years as an untreated schizophrenic, but now is in remission and lives in her own beautiful apartment in Falmouth.”
FHR President/CEO Joe Dziobek will also speak at the Symposium, sharing insight to the services available at FHR’s clubhouses. “I’m thrilled to see so much participation from Plymouth Bay and Fairwinds staff and members with this event,” Dziobek said.
“Plymouth Bay staff member Andrew Wilson and member Patti A. will participate on a panel focusing on the educational program at Plymouth Bay House,” Cote said. Kristina K., a member of Plymouth Bay, will also share her personal story, including her opportunity to gain employment at Dunkin’ Donuts.
“Ruth L. is the other Plymouth Bay House panel member. She will focus on the wellness aspects of the clubhouse. Ruth is very involved and encourages others to participate in the clubhouse’s walking program,” Cote says.
Anyone interested in gaining information about the components of a clubhouse recovery model is welcome to attend this Symposium. For more information about the event, please contact Margarette Caouette of the May Institute at 508-222-9214.
