FHR Joins Providence Bruins Fans at the Dunk

Fellowship Health Resources’ staff and community members from the Fall River and New Bedford Networks travelled to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on January 16, 2011, to see the Providence Bruins play the Worcester Sharks. The crowd was surprisingly strong, considering it was vying for attention with the Patriots playoff game. The Bruins kicked off the night wearing special camouflage jerseys to commemorate members of our armed forces, and even dedicated the game’s opening ceremony to our troops overseas.

The Bruins played an impressive and aggressive offensive game, leading to a 2-0 win over Worcester. The atmosphere at the Dunk was triumphant, and full of the energy of the Bruins fans. The game itself was intense, with a total of four or five fights between players, often ending in a team-wide brawl on the ice. The enforcers on each respective team were really showing each other how to throw hits throughout the game. Besides the physical aspect of the match, the Bruins played a well-executed defensive game, leaving the Sharks scoreless. A Dunkin Donuts Center representative introduced himself to staff and spoke with us about our agency and the wonderful people we help. He asked us to return, if possible, and offered reduced ticket prices for Fellowship clients.

Recovery Advocate Jenn Andrade and I had a great time with the clients, and we were happy to see that they enjoyed the game as much as we did. As a new employee, I greatly appreciated the opportunity to get to know other members of the Fellowship Health Resources’ community. We were all happy to see the Bruins win and we hope to share more Providence Bruins game nights in the future.
