FHR FRN Walks for Cancer in the Saint Anne’s Hospital 2010 Get Moving Walk

Therese and Wendy, ready for the challenge!
On Saturday, May 15, Fall River Network’s Therese Bernier, Rehabilitation and Recovery Group Coordinator, and Wendy D., person served, took part in the 3.5 mile “Get Moving Walk” in support of the Saint Anne’s Hospital Regional Cancer Center. The walk, a fundraiser where all walker proceeds directly benefit patient programs and services, took place at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Fall River.
According to the coordinators of the event, nearly 2,000 community members, patients, and Saint Anne’s Hospital employees took place in the 11th annual community fundraising campaign. This year’s walk has netted an all-time high of more than $157,000. Since its inception in 1999, the annual Get Moving Walk has raised more than $940,000 for Saint Anne’s cancer care program.
Ms. Bernier found the walk to be “invigorating and wonderful to be part of.” She continued, “The walk was completed within the community, where you could enjoy the scenery on a beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze, great people and a wonderful cause.”
