Local Church Reaches Out to Delaware's Clients Through its Mental Health Ministry
Contributed by Laura Marvel, Delaware Director of Program Services

Offering support along the road to positive mental health has always been an important issue for Susan Phillips, Deacon of the All Saints Parish in Harberson, Delaware. The creator of the Mental Health ministry, Deacon Phillips has initiated regularly scheduled dinners and visits to the area’s group homes since 2007. The dinners, which are themed events, give our clients something new and exciting to look forward to. There is always talk about what to wear for each theme, which have included St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Independence Day, and even a Hawaiian Luau! As the end of 2010 approaches, the Mental Health ministry has two remaining events planned for our clients - a fall harvest dinner, and a Christmas dinner.
In addition to the festive dinners, Church members have also coordinated a visit to the airpark in Georgetown to watch model airplanes fly, as well as a boating trip on the Rehoboth Bay. The group also stocks a food/personal items pantry for CCCP (Community Continuum of Care).
Fellowship Health Resources Delaware is very fortunate that we have Deacon Phillips and her tireless community members to assist our clients on their recovery journey.
